- Quotation
George gave me the quotation document we have discussed 2 weeks ago. He asked me to sign off on the document. It is the quotation we had a disputed about. Unfortunately the quotation is one document and does not distinguish between Catrin´s level, Axel´s level and general. I had asked to divide the quotation because the invoices will be born by separate parties.
The quotation document stated a 2 months delay. Again we discussed this issue. I told George that this is not acceptable to us. The delay cannot be attributed to our misbehaviour but due to Pafilia internal problems. We acknowledge that the villa cannot be finished in time; however the consequences have to be born by Pafilia. I added respective wording on the quotation document.
George confirmed that all other open issues of the quotation are being worked on. The ongoing time delay on detailing some of the quotation items is somewhat inapprehensible to me. In order to come up with a price of a quotation item the dimensions of the calculations have to be known.
- Axels Level
a) Aluminium Sun shade
Axel decided against the proposed sun shade. Apart from the costs it is too many materials that would be used and thus it would destroy the harmony of the architecture. Antonis Mavros just designed a pergola for Axels balcony. We decided that the sun shade and the pergola should be designed in the same material. I asked Antonis to prepare a drawing and George to prepare a quotation for the pergola as soon as possible.
I pointed out that extra costs can potentially arise for parts of the pergola (roughly 3 meters). In the original architectural specification we had sun shades already included, however they were forgotten to be build.
b) VRV System
Some changes need to be made to the drawings. George confirmed that Axel will be getting a separate unit in his bedroom as well as in his living room. I asked both if one unit in the living room is sufficient to cool / heat the rather large room. Both confirmed that one unit has plenty of capacity.
George also confirmed: 2 VRV units, 2 ventilation exits with each unit.
c) Axels kitchen
Axel is accepting Tonys proposal to have the kitchen build by Pafilias carpenters. We are asking to bear in mind the following items:
- The worktop should be 93cm rather than 90 cm
- The desk at the centre bloc should have regular table heights, 75 cm according to Antonis
- The desktop material (granite) has to be in line with the budget
- The desktop exhaust system (Gaggenau exhaust) needs extra attention. George said he is familiar with the system and all is under control.
- We ask Tony to bear in mind that Axel wants curtains in his living room so the kitchen plans need to be adjusted accordingly.
- Contrary to the architectural drawing the door in the kitchen toward the utility room is a sliding door rather than a standard door.
d) Terrace behind utility room
George informed me that the terrace behind the storage room is not for general use. If we want to use it as a terrace Pafilia would have to adjust the architectural drawings and get approval from the government authorities.
I informed George that we want no delay and thus refrain from using this area as a balcony.
- Catrins Level
a) Quality of the concrete sealing (see photos: diary 14.Jan 2009)
I jointly walked through the villa and reviewed some of the sealing problems, in particular in my bedroom. In some areas the iron grid pokes out of the concrete. George and Antonis explained that they will apply a special “concrete paint” on those spots. This will cure the problem for eternity.
c) Door handles
Tony informed us that there are special door handles for sliding doors. George will investigate.
- General
a) Outside boundary wall
We decided that we make no changes to the walls (reference: lower wall behind the swimming pool because of potentially a blocked view).
